Comfort zone

Modern dental treatment with laser dentistry

Comfort Zone Dentistry is our name for a range of state of the art techniques that transforms uncomfortable traditional dentistry into painless modern dentistry.

Waterlase Laser

The waterlase is a revolutionary, drill free way of preparing the tooth ready for fillings or Root Canal Treatments. It can also be used for gum removal or shaping during Minor Oral Surgery or Cosmetic Surgery.

Laser Decay Detector

No longer is the traditional method of sight and examining your teeth with a sharp instrument good enough to check them for decay. We now use a special laser device that shines a beam of light through your tooth and analyzes the reflection back instantly to provide both a sound and value indication of possible decay happening in your tooth.

This is a quantum leap forward in checking accurately the level of decay in each tooth, research studies have shown it to be 60% more accurate in detecting decay and detection can be achieved at a much earlier stage. Flouride toothpaste repairs enamel attacked by our bacteria in our mouths but does not repair the dentine layer underneath so holes in our teeth are becoming invisible so early detection by the laser is vital before too much destruction occurs and the inevitable pain develops.

Of course, this is an entirely painless technique that is far more comfortable than probing sharp metal instruments into potentially sore areas of your mouth. As a result we also take fewer x-rays.

Drill Free - Needle Free Fillings

The CrystalAir Abrasion System allows us to repair your teeth without the need for a drill or provision of local anaesthetic allowing your fillings to be pain free, vibration free and numbness free.

A very accurate and controllable stream of particles is used to remove unwanted tooth tissue in a painless quick manner to produce a much more conservative result particularly as our laser can detect the decay at a much earlier stage. A drill produces problematic micro fractures in the tooth, this technique does not. The subsequent white filling we place is smaller and better bonded because of the air abrasion technique. There’s no waiting time to use the tooth as the filling is set and your mouth is not numb.

The Wand - computer controlled anaesthesia

In the increasingly infrequent times when we need to numb your tooth to do a procedure we use The Wand.

This is not the traditional syringe but a ‘magic wand’ that delivers the anaesthetic in a manner that is virtually pain free, has a faster onset and a shorter duration. In most cases we can numb just the tooth we are working on avoiding that rubber lip and tongue feeling you may have experienced before, thus allowing you to talk and eat as normal. We’ve had it ourselves and we certainly never want that old syringe again for our treatment.

Digital X-rays

We now take our x-rays digitally which gives us better images and enhances our accuracy in planning treatments.

The images are available almost instantly and can be displayed on our large LCD screens so that we can show and explain to you any problems there may be. The xray dose you are exposed to is much reduced and the increased accuracy allows for less images to be taken or retaken due to faults in the processing.
