Why delay getting your fantastic new Invisalign smile?

Over the last 20 years we’ve seen, first hand, the rise in popularity of Invisalign as a way to straighten teeth without the hassle of traditional fixed metal braces. Wayside Dental Practice is an experienced Invisalign provider for patients in Harpenden, St Albans and Hertfordshire, looking for a discreet, fast and effective teeth-straightening solution.

Invisalign treatment at Wayside Dental has been designed to help you achieve the smile results you want in a smooth and seamless way. With our meticulous attention to detail, you can rest assured that your treatment will be comfortable, convenient and effective. If your teeth are crooked or crowded but you don’t like the idea of wearing fixed braces, Invisalign is an ideal solution.

As well as being a discreet alternative to fixed braces, there are a number of advantages to straightening your teeth with Invisalign.

  • Low visibility – Invisalign’s aligners are made from a clear, medical grade plastic, which means they are virtually invisible when placed over your teeth.
  • Removable – your oral health won’t be affected by Invisalign aligners because you simply remove them for eating as well as brushing and flossing the teeth.
  • Confidence – wearing Invisalign aligners won’t affect your lifestyle. You can still play sports, musical instruments, go out with friends or deliver business presentations – just take the aligners out during this time and replace them afterwards.
  • Comfortable – no metal brackets or wires to irritate your gums or mouth. Invisalign has proven results and more often than not, straightens teeth as fast as traditional fixed braces.

Six simple steps to a new smile

  1. Your Invisalign Consultation
Start by booking an Invisalign Consultation with one of our Invisalign dentists here at Wayside Dental Practice. Your Invisalign dentist will check that you are eligible for treatment.
  2. Digital Scan
Your Invisalign dentist in Harpenden will take fast and precise 3D digital scans of your teeth using our state-of-the-art intra-oral scanner and will work with you to map out a custom treatment plan that you are happy with.
  3. Clincheck
We’ll use your digital scan to map out the proposed movement of your teeth. You will see an animation of both your expected month-to-month progress and the final results of how we expect your smile will be. This means you get to see your new smile before treatment has even started.
  4. Aligner Fitting
Once we receive your first aligners from the Invisalign lab, we’ll fit them for you and make sure they are comfortable. Small clear attachments may be fixed to your teeth speed up your progress. These are hardly noticeable and comfortable.
  5. Wear Your Aligners
After being custom made for you, you’ll receive a series of aligners to wear every day, for at least 22 hours, and to change at home-on average every 1-2 weeks. To make progress you should only remove your aligners to eat, drink and to clean your teeth. You will visit us every 6-8 weeks to monitor the progress and to receive new aligners.
  6. Your New Smile is Complete
After you finish your last set of aligners, your beautiful new smile will be complete. Retainers should be worn after your treatment is finished to keep your teeth straight and in place.

Frequently Asked Questions on Invisalign

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner system used to straighten teeth and correct bite issues without traditional braces. It uses a series of custom-made, transparent aligners to gradually move teeth into their desired positions.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The treatment duration varies depending on the individual’s orthodontic needs. On average, it takes about 12 to 18 months, but some cases may be shorter or longer.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Invisalign is generally less painful than traditional braces. You may experience some discomfort or pressure when you switch to a new set of aligners, but it typically subsides within a few days.

Can I eat with Invisalign in?

It’s recommended to remove Invisalign aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. This helps prevent staining and damage to the aligners.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Rinse your aligners with lukewarm water and clean them gently with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Avoid using hot water or toothpaste, as they can damage the aligners. Special Invisalign cleaning crystals or solutions are also available.

Can I drink coffee or tea with Invisalign?

It’s best to remove your aligners when consuming drinks like coffee or tea, as these can stain the aligners. Always remember to brush your teeth before putting the aligners back in.

Can Invisalign fix severe orthodontic issues?

Invisalign can address a wide range of orthodontic problems, but it may not be suitable for severe cases. Consult with your Wayside dentist to determine if Invisalign is right for your specific needs.

Are there age restrictions for Invisalign?

Invisalign is suitable for both teenagers and adults. There are Invisalign options designed specifically for younger patients.

Can I chew gum with Invisalign?

Chewing gum with Invisalign in is not recommended, as it can damage the aligners and affect their effectiveness. It’s best to remove the aligners before chewing gum.
