Oral Care & Hygiene Care Plans

“Prevention is better than cure”. A wise-old saying or hackneyed cliché? Well if you’ve worked in dentistry as long as our experienced team at Wayside Dental you’d be thinking there’s much wisdom contained in those words. Your health is your wealth is another one we’re fond of and this applies as much to your oral health as keeping the rest of your body fit and healthy.

At Wayside Dental in Harpenden we definitely advocate prevention. Irregular attenders often require more dental work to be done and have a higher incidence of gum disease. Gum disease if left unchecked, can lead to tooth loss as the bone around the tooth is slowly eroded by inflammation. The presence of an overgrowth of bacteria in the mouth can lead to systemic illnesses such as heart disease and also puts the immune system under stress. These patients often require advanced gum treatment, root canal treatment or dental implants which mean their visits to the dentist and dental bills, increase.

It is estimated that around 75% of the UK population visit a dentist only when faced with a dental problem. At Wayside Dental in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, we have the expertise and experience to solve nearly all dental problems but also know that many problems can be avoided with good oral hygiene routine and regular dental check-ups.

At Wayside, the majority of our patients attend regularly every 6 months and many have joined one of Wayside Dental’s Membership Plans.

To help those patients who attend regularly, we have developed, in conjunction with DPAS, three dental plans. Our affordable membership plans allow patients to spread the costs of routine care with convenient monthly payments. We remind patients of every dental appointment they need to make sure they can keep up with their oral healthcare routine. Members of our care plans also get priority booking and do not pay any PPE charge if they have any treatment where enhanced PPE is required.

We offer 3 dental plans:

Oral Care Plan

• Two dental health examinations per year
• Two scale and polish appointments with your dentist
• All x rays
• Oral cancer screening
• Smile analysis
• 20% discount on our private fee scale on all treatments up to the value of £1000 per year
• Emergency assessment visit (excluding any treatment)
• One white filling per year (saving from £125 per year)
• Diet and oral hygiene advice
• Membership card with 24-hour helpline numbers for dental emergencies at home or abroad
• Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme.

The monthly cost of this plan is £23.20 for adults aged 22 and over, £12.50 for young adults (aged 18-21) and £6.61 for children aged 6 to 17. Check-ups for children aged 5 and under are free.

Hygiene Plan

This is the same as the Oral Care Plan but includes two 30 minute hygienist appointments (in places of two scaling appointments in oral care plan). The monthly cost of this plan is £24.

Hygiene Plus Plan

This is similar to the Hygiene Care Plan but includes four 30 minute hygienist appointments instead of two hygiene appointments. The monthly cost of this plan is £32.10.
